Damir Nigmatyanov, The Chief of the learning and development department of UPECO Company, made a report at the “System of Learning and Development: Current State and Topical Tendencies” Conference. The conference organized by Training Institute ARB-Pro State Company took place on February 14-15, 2008, in Saint – Petersburg.
The representatives of Nestle, Hinekken, Sun InBeu Russia, X5 Retail Group, Mirax Group, Danon, Wrigley, UPECO, PACO, Russian Railways, Gasprom, Severstal, Rusal and other companies took part in this event.
HR specialists and corporate coaches discussed modern Russian and foreign tendencies in learning and development (L&D), innovational methodologies of management and personnel learning and motivation, etc. The experts noted that the volume of L&D market in Russia is 163 times less than in the U.S.A. But in spite of this, many international tendencies of L&D are characteristic of our country also. In particular, in recent years learning and development play a great part in personnel’s nonmaterial motivation. Notably rises the demand for the discrete form of learning of companies’ employees, tutorship, coaching, e-learning with the help of multimedia programs.
Training is considered today not a single event for personnel’s skills development but an instrument of company’s strategy realization. Following world tendencies, many Russian companies began to create KPI system, the key showing of activities that should be developed with different specialists. For instance, in the U.S.A. a KPI library was created where one may learn about key showing of the activities of specialists who work in different fields and companies, and on the basis of those KPI everybody can develop necessary skills.
Citing as an example innovational technologies applied at UPECO Damir Nigmatyanov demonstrated the influence of system learning on company’s efficiency. The participants of the conference displayed intent interest towards two innovations used at UPECO. They are Self Improvement Meeting during which every UPECO’s employee can come out on his or her own initiative and share with the listeners some new ideas, and new presentations format – Pecha-Kucha – which allows to give an account of a problem clearly in a short time.
“Positive reaction to the technologies used by our company confirmed that we are in the mainstream of the world learning and development market, Damir Nigmatyanov said.- But opening new niches at the FMCG market and claiming to the leadership of our brands, we should always take the lead at the L&D market also, analyzing foreign experience and developing our own technologies of learning and development.”
